BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects is proud to serve as the local Architect of Record in collaboration with global design firm CannonDesign on the new Bentonville Health & Wellness Campus, an ambitious 100-acre destination that will redefine how health care is experienced in Northwest Arkansas and beyond. Developed by the Alice L. Walton Foundation, the campus represents a transformative investment in whole-person care, bringing together advanced specialty medicine, nature, education, and community in a setting designed to promote lifelong well-being.
The first phase of the campus will feature a Center for Advanced Specialty Care surrounded by gardens, walking trails, and outdoor gathering spaces that blur the line between health care and landscape. Rather than treating buildings as isolated destinations, the campus is envisioned as an interconnected environment where architecture, wellness, and nature work together to support healing and improve health outcomes.
As the Arkansas-based Architect of Record, Polk Stanley Wilcox is partnering closely with CannonDesign to bring the project’s vision to life while ensuring it responds to the region’s climate, culture, and community. The collaboration builds on the firm’s growing portfolio of transformative health care and educational projects across Arkansas, including the nearby Alice L. Walton School of Medicine.
“This campus represents a remarkable shift in how we think about health care,” said Mark Herrmann, AIA, Principal at Polk Stanley Wilcox. “The design recognizes that healing happens not only inside clinical spaces but also through meaningful connections to nature, movement, community, and place. We’re honored to help deliver a project that will have a lasting impact on the future of health care in Arkansas.”
The Bentonville Health & Wellness Campus is part of a broader effort to expand access to world-class specialty care throughout the Heartland through a long-term collaboration between the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Mercy, the Heartland Whole Health Institute, and Cleveland Clinic. Together, the partners are advancing a model centered on whole health—one that integrates preventive care, education, research, and the built environment to improve quality of life and long-term health outcomes.
Located approximately two miles east of downtown Bentonville, the campus will become a key component of the region’s expanding health and innovation ecosystem, complementing the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine and other nearby institutions dedicated to education, wellness, and research.
