Woodruff County Library Addition & Renovation

Augusta, AR

The Woodruff County Library existing building and site were constructed in the mid-1960’s and have not had modernization or extensive upgrading since that time. The new addition and substantial renovation are intended to bring the facility and its programs into the 21st Century for this town at the edge of the Arkansas Delta.

Located at the southern end of the city’s primary downtown business district, and sitting one block from the banks of the White River, this library project is envisioned as a key part of a long-term revitalization of Augusta. The addition will provide a new stacks area and reading room which will have broad views north toward the heart of downtown. It will also open physically onto a landscaped ‘civic lawn / plaza’ intended to create a new inside/outside public amenity and gathering space for the town.

Renovations will include a community meeting room (that can be used during times when the library is closed), new ADA-compliant restrooms, upgrades of the heating and cooling systems and provision of ‘state-of-the-art’ technology to all areas of both new and renovated spaces.
