Little Rock Southwest High School

Little Rock, AR

Polk Stanley Wilcox is honored to be working with the Little Rock School District to design the new high school located on 55 acres in Southwest Little Rock. This is the district’s first high school to be built in over 50 years, and is the new flagship high school for the state’s capitol city. The high school combines the student populations of J.A. Fair and McClellan high schools, for a total student count of over 2000. The school strives to prepare students for the global stage through project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching models. Therefore, the school is designed with large classrooms, shared collaboration spaces, simulation labs, virtual classroom technology, and maker spaces, all of which support an aggressive and forward thinking approach to learning. The school also incorporates visual and performing arts classes, and features a 1200 seat auditorium. The school’s athletic facilities serves as a host facility for the region. Sports facilities include an arena size gymnasium, a combined football and soccer field with indoor and outdoor practice fields and field house, track and field, baseball and softball fields, and tennis.
