This home represents the owners’ personalities, heritage, and interests, while sustaining its strong connection to the beautiful lake that borders the site’s southern edge.
While the owner is an avid outdoorsman, he and his wife both share the love of entertaining, cooking, and lake activities. The site allowed the mass of the home to be broken into three distinct pavilions: the carriage pavilion with guest quarters above, the main house, and an outdoor kitchen pavilion. The main house is conceived as an open entertainment pavilion, with living, dining, and kitchen all in one large open space overlooking a terrace and lake beyond. The heavy timber trusses, stained deck, and clerestory windows allow a warm glow of natural light in the space all hours of the day. Careful planning allows almost all spaces to have a view of the lake. The Arkansas bluestone is dry stacked to allow the impression of a rock outcropping at the home’s base, while the natural wood blends perfectly within the existing canopy of trees.
