The city of Hot Springs, in an effort to maintain and enhance their share of the state and regional meeting industry market, desired to expand and renovate the existing convention center. Exhibition and meeting spaces were needed and included in the building design. Those include administrative office service docks, maintenance, and food service and banquet facilities, featuring a ballroom. The form of the building from the exterior expresses the interior organization of spaces. Brick detailing, using Flemish bond and buff colors is reminiscent of other contextual buildings of the city with many of the landmarks visible from this building’s lobbies. Visitor entrances are prominent upon approach, with interior circulation concourses clearly organized to allow the visitor an understanding of his orientation.
